An industrial robot is an automated and programmable machine that can be incorporated in the manufacturing systems. Applications of Industrial Robots

The handling applications in which industrial robots can perform include; pick and place from a conveyer belt to packaging and machine tending. In machine tending, raw materials are usually fed into the processing equipment by the use of industrial robots such as CNC mills, injection molding machines, and lathes and presses.


This is where industrial robots load corrugated cartons and other packaged products onto a particular design pallet. There are three primary types of palletizing, namely; layer forming, depalletizing and mixed cases.

Robotic palletizers usually rely on an overhead support robot with special tooling that borders with the specific load components, building simple to compound layer designs on top of a pallet, thereby maximizing the loads’ steadiness during transportation.

Sealing and Gluing

To effectively put on adhesive or sealant, a robot precisely trails a path with reasonable control over speed, while maintaining a controlled droplet of the glued substrate. Areas in which robots are widely used for sealing applications include; the automotive industry to seal car windows, and in packaging procedures for computerized sealing of crenelated product cases.


As a result of their hazardous nature, plasma, water jet cutters, and laser are frequently used with robots. A robot can be programmed to perform hundreds of diverse cutting designs. This produces accurate precision and path following with superior flexibility than most cutting machinery. 


Robots are known to produce accurate welds, as well as control parameters such as gas flow, power, and wire feed. Industrial robots are used for spot welding and seam (MIG, TIG, laser, and arc) welding.
